2013 Registration is Open
It is not too late to register for football!! We have a spring season April 29-May 18, and will keep registration open over the summer as well. Register at any time! Click on the orange widget on the top right corner of this page, or on the 2013 Registration tab on the top of the left menu bar.
SPRING PRACTICE
Our spring practice season is underway. This does not mean it is too late to join or program. Players can continue to be added during this three week period and over the summer. Coaches will use this opportunity to evaluate players, work on fundamental skills, and start to put together a game plan for the fall season. We understand that many of our players will have conflicts with spring sports--we just ask that whenever your player is not playing or practicing for his spring sport, that he attend our practice.
We will be flexing our practice schedule around field availability at the high school, availability of our coaches (some of whom are coaching spring sports) and lighting at the fields. This means the schedule and location may change a bit from week to week and day to day.
JAMBOREES - The times and dates for these Jamborees have been on our website for some time and have been communicated in earlier emails. PLEASE start to look at your schedules and if you are playing a spring sport, communicate to your coach if you have a conflict. If you are not playing a spring sport with a direct conflict, you should be at the jamboree. There is much more infomation about both jamborees under our Calendar Tab.
May 11 Woodstock Jamboree

7th Grade 11am - 1pm
8th Grade 1pm - 3:30pm
May 18 Pope Jamboree

7th Grade 11:45 - 2:20pm
8th Grade 2:35pm - 5:10pm
LOCATION
All teams will be practicing mainly at the Abbotts Field on Abbotts Bridge Road. Abbotts Field is best accessed from the main entrance to the high school on Abbotts Bridge Road, and it is adjacent to the wrestling building. It can also be accessed by parking in the stadium lot close to the top, and walking past the tennis courts and the wrestling building. Whenever we have access, we will move to the stadium, which eliminates issues with lighting and weather. That will be communicated by email when it happens.
SCHEDULE
6th Grade:
Will practice Monday through Thursday, from 6:30-8:30pm
7th Grade:
Will practice Monday through Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm
8th Grade:
Will practice Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 7-8:30pm-NO PRACTICE TUESDAY
EQUIPMENT
If you missed equipment handout, you will need to first report to the Abbotts Field to turn in paperwork to Becky Ferguson, and then head down to the fieldhouse to get your equipment. Paperwork required includes GMSAA waiver, birth certificate, physical form, and equipment deposit of $250, volunteer deposit of $75. You also need to be registered online with our program and need to have paid the $225 initial dues payment. Please come 15-20 minutes early to practice if you need equipment, as it is a hike down to the fieldhouse.
You will need to provide the following for your player:
A mouthpiece--it MUST have a strap and be tethered to the face mask of the helmet (GMSAA rule).
Practice pants--they can be any color, and they are available either with the pads as an intergral part of the pants, or you can purchase pads and a girdle separately. They need to be worn whenever we are practicing in full pads. The game uniforms that will be issued for fall do not come with pads, so you will need a set of pads with a girdle at that time.
WATER
Water will be provided at the field. You are welcome to bring your own water, but PLEASE take it home with you and if it is disposable, please don't leave it on the field.
WEATHER
We will generally practice if the weather is rainy, as long as it is not a downpour. If the weather is questionable, please keep an eye on your email inbox for a last minute cancellation. You can also sign up for text messages alerts if you did not already do this when you registered. Instructions for having text message capability is on the right side of our home page.
WEBSITE
Please check our website frequently for updated information. Right now, you can find schedules for our Jamborees May 11 and May 18 posted on the calendar page. As soon as we know the schedule and location for week 2 of practice it will be on the home page. It will be similar to this week's schedule with some possible slight modifications.
June 18-20 TITAN YOUTH CAMP (8:30am - 12pm), $75, Register at www.touchdowntitans.com if you did not sign up when you registered with Jr. Titans. This camp is optional! Price increases to $85 after June 1.
July 29 FALL PRACTICE STARTS
Football Equipment Handout
If you missed equipment handouts, you can get it the first night you come to practice, as long as you are registered online and are up to date with fee payments. Football players need to bring the following items with them to equipment handout: GMSAA Waiver Form, Physical Form, Birth Certificate Copy, $250 Equipment Deposit Check made out to NFFA, and $75 Volunteer Deposit Check made out to NFFA. GMSAA Waiver and Physical Forms are under Documents/Forms. We need a new one every year. If you played with us last year, we do not need another copy of your birth certificate.
Physicals
Physicals are only good for one year from the date of the doctor's examination. Depending on the date on the physical form for the 2012 season, your physical may be new enough to get you through the spring season without needing a new one until the fall practice starts in July. Email
if you are unsure of the date on last year's physical. All players new to Jr. Titans and all whose physicals have expired need to turn in a physical form before spring practice starts.
2013 Fundraising
Jr. Titans does not require any fundraising from its families. We take great care in setting our fee structure, balancing our budget, and making responsible and conservative spending decisions for our program, so that we do not have to ask you to raise any money outside of your fees. However, for the past couple of years, we have allowed our members to fundraise, if they want to, in an effort to reduce the amount of fees they need to pay. For 2013, it has been decided that fundraising will be in the form of soliciting business sponsors for our program. If you can solicit a business sponsor for Jr. Titans in the amount of $200, that amount can be deducted from your total fee balance. All information pertaining to what is included in a business sponsorship and how to order a business sponsorship can be found in the document entitled 2013 Business Sponsorship Info and Order Forum on our Documents/Forms page. ALL questions about 2013 Fundraising should be directed to Sheila Martin at
. The deadline to participate in fundraising is July 1--all checks and order forms must be received by this date.
2013 GMSAA KICKOFF CLASSIC
Jr. Titans will be hosting one of the GMSAA KICKOFF CLASSIC events at Northview High School on August 17, 2013. This is a massive undertaking which begins with us hosting 8 teams x 3 grades (24 teams) in a tournament jamboree style from 8am until 3pm on two fields, and ends with us participating in a preseason full game day schedule with our 6th grade team playing a game at 3pm, 7th grade at 5pm and 8th grade at 7pm. All teams participating will be assigned to our site by the GMSAA. Other teams hosting are East Paulding, Cherokee and North Cobb. This is a great opportunity for us to shine within the GMSAA organization and the proceeds will go a long way towards helping to pay for the new uniforms we are purchasing for the 2013 season. If you would like to help us with the planning of this event, which includes game day operations, a hospitality suite for coaches and GMSAA personnel, concessions, sponsors, vendors, etc, please email
. We will begin planning this event as soon as the spring season is ended.
